Outside "The exterior of the Paul G. Reitz Theater in DuBois tells the whole story.
This unique theater, located in downtown DuBois at 36 E. Scribner Ave., looks like a church. No wonder. Built in 1887, the theater was a church for nearly all of its 133 years. It was one of the few structures that survived the fire of 1888, which destroyed most of the city. It was the home of the Cornerstone Baptist Church until 1992 when Cultural Resources Inc., an organization of civic-minded community leaders, purchased the structure with the intent of converting it into a theater..."

The former vaudeville team, Al Lewis and Willie Clark, in spite of playing together for over thirty years, have a natural antipathy for one another. It has been eleven years since they have performed together when CBS-TV wants them to appear in the 'History of Comedy'. Willie has been unsuccessfully doing spot commercials, for companies like 'Shick' and Frito-Lay, while Al is happily retired. The team gets back together through the efforts of Willie's nephew. Of course things do not go well and the comic antics never end.

THE SUNSHINE BOYS was first presented on December 20, 1972, by Emanuel Azenberg and Eugene V. Wolsk at the Broadhurst Theatre, New York City, with the following cast:

Jack Albertson
Lewis J. Stadlen
Sam Levene

This is our tribute to those people, without whom we wouldn't have our theater.

Enjoy the pictures, and stop back often to see what we've added.
